Octavio Ocampo is one of Mexico’s most prolific artists.

Ocampo was born on 28 February 1943 in Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico. He is a painter who uses a style called “metamorphic art” which utilizes optical illusions in the painting.

He has studied at the school of painting and sculpture (La Esmeralda) Bellas Artes (1961 – 1965) and at the SanFrancisco Art Institute, San Francisco, California (1972 – 1974). He now lives in Tepoztlan, north of Mexico City.

Ocampo is known for several works in his evocative paintings in which detailed images are intricately woven together to create larger images.
